James woke up far too early on his birthday (4am. Interestingly that was right around the time he woke me up 2 years ago with contractions) and was very excited to see all the balloons and decorations in the living room. Thankfully he was tired enough to leave the balloons and snuggle rather than go off to play with them all. Then between Will and I taking shifts we were able to get James back to sleep and after that he even slept in and got to properly enjoy his birthday decor once getting out of bed the second time.
Delilah and William were very proud that they blew up 25 balloons for James and had fun showering him with them
The tradition of opening cards from the great grandparents
Lots of animal stickers which really peaked his interest
James had only a 20 minute afternoon nap which after his middle of the night waking was not enough sleep for the poor guy. He was very content to take a break with Dad when he came home from work.
Although it wasn't James' turn to 'drive' the van up our driveway James got the honours later that evening
We made him sit on the couch to open his presents which brought on big crocodile tears
But the tears quickly dried as a present was placed on his lap and he got to work on it
Just. So. Excited.
Delilah and William did such a good job at waiting patiently for James to open his gifts and giving him some space
Fire trucks were certainly a big hit
Since it was well past James' bedtime and he was very much in need of sleep he got a cute little two-bite version
Happy Birthday Buddy!
