Ruckell Point VanDelft Family Reunion

This is Ruckell Point, a Boy Scouts camp in Shuswap and where we spent the first 4 days of our summer holidays this summer. It happened to rain the first 2 days we were there, and that wasn't the greatest, but we managed.
This is the mess hall where we had our meals and hung out during the torrential down pours. The first night there was such an awful thunderstorm around 1am that our cabin was shaking from the thunder and our cabin door popped open and the lightning lit up the whole room.
But we kept busy with company and puzzles
Auntie Karen had lots of crafts and games to play with
And Auntie Ave did too, and that kept the kids busy

Auntie Karen even managed to get a couple older 'kids' making book markers
Serious crafting
and serious chess playing
And serious 'selfie'ing
This was what we woke up to on Friday,
Sun!
or at least blue sky
the sun came later on
and we had a surprise birthday party for everyone. And that was neat because it's not like we remember everyone's birthdays when they pass by throughout the year and to recognize them all with one party was awesome.
These two played together so nicely :)
Here they had made all the chess pieces into different family members and it was really cute to listen and watch them play.
My backgammon and cuddling partner
Much love
Auntie Karen's crafts made it outside due to the sunny summer weather.
She walked along the beach with the kids and collected bucketfuls of rocks which they then painted. It kept them occupied for a long time, and some of them looked really good.
See? Really cool.
:)
Fishing on the dock
Uncle Garth adopted little Sophie's sun hat...
that made for more than a few laughs

So then on Saturday we got all ready to leave and head to Scotch Creek.
But this happened to one of the trailers
Ethan took this picture and demanded recognition for that
...Uh Oh...
You see, in order to get down to this beautiful Scout's camp, you had to drive down a really steep logging road that was rather unkempt and full of sharp switchbacks. As we were driving down the road we were being pushed by the weight of trailer even though the brakes were fully on.
Getting out was pretty bad too, cuz then you're going uphill

So we had to wait 4 hours for a tow truck to come.
And since we had all left in convoy, our van was stuck on a section on the winding road :(
but this meant to got to spend more time together at the beach and enjoy the sun with all the other family members who got stuck there with us

All the cabins
Here's the cabin that we slept in.

The Mess hall
And there's the tow truck pulling the trailer up.
