The One Where Our Power Went Out

7:20pm, December 29th, 2017.
Will and I were 2 minutes away from home. It was still very icy out and that day were high winds and ice rains so we opted to take a 5 minute detour to avoid going through what we call "The Gully."

Well, it ended up being a 40 minute detour due to two fallen trees which blocked the road in different places. One we were able to remove with the help of two other guys while came behind us on the road, but when we reached the second fallen tree we were forced to turn around and go back and through the gulley. Thankfully there weren't tooo many branches or trees on the road there and we safely made it home.
Home to an ice cold house. We learned that our power had been out since about 2:00pm that afternoon.
Since we are on well water we didn't have any access to water either.

Will and I camped out in the living room Friday night, sleeping with the fireplace on. We feel asleep being able to see our breath but by the time we woke up it had warmed up a bit.
We headed to Wills parents' to take a shower and use the bathroom and then ended up spending the night at my family's house.
Sunday morning BC Hydro's website said out power was back on so we headed over there for lunch to check on our poor tropical fish who were swimming in 10 degree water.
But ok and behold, the power was still out.
Around 6:00pm on Sunday we finally, and thankfully, were restored power and only lost one fish to this power outage.

So yeah, that's that.
I said it before, but I really didn't think that after two weeks of marriage I'd be back living with my parents 😛.
Will and I are very glad to live so close to our families and be able to rely on them for their help.
