White Rock Pier - Family Day 2019

We went for a walk this afternoon at White Rock, taking advantage of Family Day and Will having the day off from work.
Compared to subzero weather we'd almost grown accustomed to over the past few weeks we really enjoyed the 3°C temperature along the ocean shore.

The pier is still damaged from the windstorm we had in late December and I was surprised to see a fair amount of debris littering the shoreline. Lots of metal pieces as well as a large sail. I would have thought that a city worker or someone would have cleaned those things up by now...

The promenade at White Rock has been under construction since fall of 2017 and we were quite bummed to find that a large section of the East walkway is currently closed off to the public for construction.
I'm not sure when they'll be finished but every time I visit White Rock it reminds me of the road widening at Fraser Highway and Highway 15 back in the mid 2000s which seemed to take roughly ten years to complete...

We truly enjoyed spending time together on our BC Family Day and are grateful for this relatively new holiday which makes it a little easier to get through February.
