Laid Off!

With all the crazy business of life, and the fact that we had no internet for a month, I completely forgot to mention on my blog that Will got laid off.

Although it's been a few weeks since it happened, I really do like to keep track of all these sorts of things on my blog.

Long story short:
- Will was manager of the aluminum shop at his work and before we left for holidays (week of July 29th) he was told the the worker under him and another guy from the steel shop were going to be laid off because things were slowing down.
- We went camping and had a wonderful vacation.
- The Monday Will was back at work (week of August 12) he was asked if he'd be willing to work part time. If not, they'd lay someone else off. There was also a staff meeting that day where the rest of the crew was asked to consider going part time.
- Tuesday Will came back to them with his answer that he could work part time, but was then told that they didn't have enough work and that was his last day.
- Other people also got laid off, but Will's not sure how many people. He knows that the manager above him also is gone. Lots of changes there!
- BUT on that Monday Will mentioned in passing to our new landlord that he was possibly getting his hours cut. Then on Tuesday afternoon he ran into the landlord outside again and said that he was done work, and our landlord offered him a job! So that's who he is currently working for!

I am the kind of person who likes to make plans and stick to them!
Last week NOTHING went according to plan! Out of the blue the 'plans' that we thought we had made for the next week, month, year, two years, five years, ALL changed when Will got laid off.
Ooof.
My exact words replying to Will's text were, "Ahhh!" Followed by a, "Woah!"
This was not part of MY plan.

My favourite Bible text is 1 Peter 5:6-7 which says, "Humble yourselves therefore under God's mighty hand and in due time He will lift you up. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."
Although it's my favourite text it's still hard to practice 100%. This past week gave Will and I plenty of opportunities to work on humbling and casting.

Last week was rough.
Things were changing daily, we weren't sleeping well, and staying up late trying to figure out what to do.
We are thankful and ecstatic that God provides us with our daily bread and so many more blessings!
