Second Wedding Anniversary

To celebrate our second wedding anniversary Will and I spent two days in Vancouver.

We started off in Gastown for an early lunch

And then wound up in Stanley Park and went to the aquarium!

These fish lay their eggs on dead leaves and then tote the leaf around with them to keep them safe from predators. We got to watch a pair guard their little leaf and chase away other fish.

In the rain forest display we were very focused on looking at a display with tortoises, and then suddenly one of these pink birds pooped on Will's shoulder, which splattered onto me too!
Thankfully there was a staff member near by who had wet wipes!

This snake looked very comfortable with his head resting on his looped body.

And yes, what would be an animal sighting without Will trying to speak to them?
😝

This display with frogs was probably one of our favourite.
It was FULL of frogs, but not just that, there were tons of eggs laid around, and tadpoles at all different stages of life!
So neat to see!

...trying to pet the ducks...

Bright Nights at Stanley Park

For dinner we went to the Top of Vancouver restaurant at the Harbour Centre

This is what a $15 cheesecake looks like.
😲
It tasted absolutely amazing but I'm not sure we can ever again justify spending $30 on just dessert...

We should have asked someone to take a photo of us together, but all we have as a memory is this blurry selfie 😄

We parked between these two vehicles. It was a very tight fit (Will crawled out my door) and when we came back 2hrs later after dinner we hoped that they'd be gone, but nope.

Will was looking out our hotel window on Saturday morning and very seriously said, "Leana, you gotta come see this, there's been a massacre!"
I was expecting to see a crime scene, but instead it was a roof-top full of mannequins and Santa statues. A very interesting sight.

After breakfast we made our way over to Yaletown.
I thought our plan was to go for a nice walk, but we ended up looking at the boats docked there...

Although I had heard several poor reviews for Glow Vancouver, we had won tickets and decided to check it out.
From what I had heard Glow Vancouver and Glow Abbotsford are nothing in comparison to the original Glow Langley (which had been shut down), and that Glow Abbotsford was the better of the two new options.
And while the displays were nicer than the Bright Lights in Stanely Park, I am grateful that we had free tickets because I would have been sorely disappointed if we paid for it. It's definitely tailored more to kids ages 2-8 and I think it's safe to say that Glow Vancouver is a real let down.
