Dewdney Peak and Nicomen Mountain

On Saturday we got to go wheeling in the woods with some friends.
We went to the Norrish Creek area in Deroche.

Delilah was playing around with these earmuffs and ended up falling asleep with them on.

Looking West

Apparently there was a much better view standing on these stumps, which most of the guys climbed up to see.

Having a tailgate is so perfect for trips like these as it makes for a great seat, or even the best spot for changing diapers!

Our little explorer

Pointing out a train down in the valley

These narrow, closed in, green, bushy trails are my favourite!
😁

But that trail from the precious photo was not the trail we were looking for, so we had to turn around. On the tiny, narrow trail.

THIS is the trail we were trying to find.
I much prefer the other one 😄
But the guys were all over this one and we could just sense all the testosterone and adrenaline pumping as they maneuvered and spotted one another through the path.

We let the kids out to play and Little William took up the task of moving rocks from one side of the road to the other. Very important work.

Will's turn

We took Matt along with us and here he is building a castle for Delilah

Now on Nicomen Mountain this was our view over dinner.

All the driving had put William right to sleep!

Near the bottom left corner of this picture you can see a very blue pool in a rock quarry. Must be some sort of mineral or algae there.
Two lots over from the quarry was a field scattered with with hay bales. From as high up as we were Delilah kept calling them sheep.

As we began to descend at the end of the day one of the vehicles in our crew had problems with their lights not working. We were in the lead at that point and stopped for about ten minutes while the guys tried to solve the issue.
The forest was as black as black could be. And so quiet. There was no animal noise, hardly any wind noise, and you could hear the thudding footsteps of the guys walking around way behind us. It was so fascinating, but also so eerie.
It didn't take them long to figure out the problem and after that it was a quick and uneventful trip back home.
