Will's Goat Hunting Trip

In the middle of September Will and a buddy headed North on a ten day hunting trip.
They were very grateful to have had the best case scenario for their hunt, especially considering it was the first time for each. By some form of a miracle they spotted and killed a goat already on their second day on the mountain. The next day they were able to spend packing everything back down to the truck and ran into the next group of goat hunters coming up. The guys were thankful their paths only crossed on the trail and not mid-hunt. Then that evening it snowed on the mountains! Missed that by a few hours.
They stayed a few more days to bear hunt but were unsuccessful there, and then came home late (we're talking 3am) on the sixth night, exhausted and excited.

Here's a few pictures I've hijacked from Will to share here.
I love the alpine colours in these photos!

Their first day was spent driving and they slept alongside the road that night.
This photo is of  the beginning of the trek on Day 2 - Hiking up

It was quite steep in several parts, but I've been told this was some of the easier sections!

At the end of the day they set up a camp and prepared to hunt goats the following morning.

Day 3 - The Hunt!

They had spotted a goat in the morning, set themselves up, but after a miscalculation of the lay of the land, a change in the winds, and a cloud sweeping in, they lost the goat...

Discouraged and exhausted they decided to hike back to their camp, take the rest of the daylight hours easy, and then get bountiful rest for the next day to come.

Only as they were descending they spotted a goat a few mountains over from where they had previously been. So back up the inclines they went!
And from there it went quite seamlessly. The wind was gusting strong, but in their favour, the fog rolled in, and the goat bedded down which led to his demise.

Once they gutted and packed up, this time with extra heavy bags, they got on the path back to camp once more.

Beautiful views between the trees.

A lake nestled between the mountains along the trail.
Day 4 - It took two trips but they got all the meat and gear back down the mountain and to the truck.

Day 5 - Spent the day bear hunting, found a beaver dam and lodge and two playful beavers instead.

Fresh snow!
