Delilah's Third Birthday!

We celebrated Delilah's third birthday today!

How crazy to think that she's been fill our lives with joy for three years already!
Will and I both agreed it is harder for us to wrap our heads around that we have a three year old than the fact that we're already expecting our third child. The third baby is a no-brainer, but how in the world did we wind up with a three year old?!?!

Delilah has a huge imagination and we love the stories that she tells. It's been so neat watching her learn more and more how to talk in the past year. The sentences she forms and the way she conjugates words keep us quite entertained as well. She is such a gift to our family and we are so excited with her to see how she grows in this upcoming year.

When I asked Delilah what type of a birthday party she wanted this year she told me, "Green" and when I asked what she wanted for her birthday she answered, "A party hat and green balloons."
Can you guess what her favourite colour is? 😂😆

Last night Will and I set up a few decorations to surprise Delilah with when she got up in the morning.

She woke up very thrilled that today was finally her birthday. After all, she'd been waiting for and talking about it for a whole month already.

She began her day opening up a card that came in the mail from her Faber great-grandparents. Getting mail as a 3yro is very exciting. 😄

A little while later Delilah held a balloon up to my belly and said, "See Mom, this balloon matches our baby! Huge and round!" 😂

I stuck a balloon under her shirt and told her we were now matching

A while ago Delilah asked me if she could have her friends over when it was her birthday. I wasn't planning to do a party like that for her but we invited our neighbours over for cupcakes in the morning. Not a fancy party at all, but her dreams came true and she was just tickled to have had them all come over.
I think 8 kids and 3 adults is definitely pushing the limits on our tiny apartment. 😆

As we were eating lunch after her party and Delilah asked if her birthday was over now. She was VERY excited to find out it is her birthday ALL DAY LONG. Even until bedtime!

Dee requested pancakes for dinner (after all she is her father's daughter) and following that we had a second round of cupcakes. More than enough sugar for one day I think!

A party hat and a green cupcake with sprinkles, what more could a Delilah ask for?

Presents!

She had completely forgotten that gifts were a birthday event as well. I mentioned this afternoon that after dinner we'd open her presents.
"Presents?!? I get presents too?!?!"

That little concentration tongue 💚

And our sweet William.
He spent most of the day saying and singing, "Happy Happy" because he just couldn't get 'Birthday' out.
He was truly happy for his big sister and had such a blast celebrating her big day with us.
