James: One Month Old

Sweet James turned one month old today!

He weighs 12lbs 6oz which puts him up three pounds since birth and in the 96th percentile.

We've been very relaxed on having any form of schedule in this first month.
James nurses on demand which ends up being roughly every two hours, but he'll go longer if he's sleeping. We also let him sleep when he's tired.
When he first wakes up in the morning I'll loosen his swaddle and he loves to lay in bed next to me and stare at the bright sunshine coming through the window. Then he'll be awake for about an hour and a half before needing his first nap of the day.

In his first two weeks James would wake only once a night which I was quite excited about. But in the last two weeks he's dropped that handy rhythm.

Again in the first two weeks, James used to begin his bedtime routine by staying awake for an hour from roughly 9-10pm and then I'd put him down for the night at 10. But now he's calling it a night at 7 or 8.

He likes being cozy. Diaper and outfit changes are some of his least favourite activities.
Being snuggled up on someone's chest would be one of his favourites.
James is such a perfect little snuggle buggle.

Tummy time is rarely a lonely event for James as his big siblings love to get down to his level and encourage him on. They get excited when he is awake and love teaching him how to play.

Delilah is such a little mother when it comes to her baby brother. She is quick to help dress him and is  always ready to sooth an upset James by snuggling or rocking him.

William is a less hands on (probably for the best), but likes to share toys with James and rub his head. Although he seems less involved, William is very protective of James. If someone from outside our family has something that is James' (a soother or blanket, for example) he'll  blurt out, "Hey! That Names'!" With an unimpressed look on his face.

We love our James, sweet pea, little dude, and the blessing that he is to our family.
