Historic Hat Creek Ranch

Last week Saturday we visited Historic Hat Creek Ranch with Will's parents.
Delilah brought her camera along too, isn't she the cutest with it?

Drumming at the indigenous display

William went running across the lawn towards the chickens and after chasing the ones standing around, he sat down right next to this hen (who was also sitting at the time) and asked her, "Do you want me to get your eggs, chicken?"

We had to dodge a sprinkler (not part of the 1800's display! 😆) to check out the pigs - see Will's spotted back?

This was sure a stinky pen to get too close to!

Trying their hands at goldpanning

The buildings stand as they did in 1901 and between 1885 and 1905 they were one of the busiest stops along the Cariboo Wagon Road.

Lining up for a stagecoach ride

Have a fun trip!

Opa got this photo from inside the coach - Delilah and William had such a fun time!

We got to peek around inside the roadhouse which was built in 1861!

It was so beautiful in a special way to see how the building is deteriorating.
This is inside the women's washroom and you can see an older layer of wallpaper underneath the green one.

This roadhouse is the safest and one of the largest ever along the Cariboo Wagon Road. I believe they said it had 18 rooms for folks to stay in.

"Please do not touch wall paper"
I was worried to breath too closely to it as well!

Kinda eery, but stunning at the same time.

The lino was worn out in lots of different places, but I love how they didn't rope the area off and continued to allow people to walk the floors.

The hotel rooms themselves were roped off. I spoke to an attendant and he said that they want to one day open up the whole house, but need to do so safely, as the building allows.

I found it fascinating how the wallpaper is sagging off most of the walls.

The grandmother's sewing machine

Such a neat little gem to wander about and explore!
