Moving From One Apartment To The Next

At the beginning of the month we moved! This move has been in the backs of our minds for a looong time.
A few doors down from our one bedroom apartment are two bedroom apartments. When we moved into our sweet small home we put our name on the waiting list for a two bedroom suite. Little did we know that two years later we still wouldn't be quite ready to give up our tiny home. I already got all sentimental about it to Will, so I'll spare you my sappiness. 😜 But know that it was a good home. A great home. Our best home so far.

It's been just over a week now since we moved into our new place. It feels familiar in the way that your great-aunt Gertrude at a summer family barbeque is familiar, but it's simply a surface level how are you, where are you working now sort of way.
The things in the space are ours. They are familiar but something seems just a little off.
The house used to be rented by our friends. The walls are familiar but just not quite the same.
And put together - the things and the walls - they seem right now to clash.
We'll get there. I know we will. It just will take some time before it feels like home.

People have asked how the move has gone and the word I keep using is Chaotic.
We've known about this upcoming move for a while but didn't know an actual date. It wasn't until we were camping in the second-last week of July that we found out we'd get to move into the two bedroom suite August 1. Giving us one week once we got home from camping to pack.
And since moving we've spent a lot of time fixing and cleaning our old suite, fixing our new suite, and working A LOT in our garden. Unpacking has been pushed to the side for the most part.
But we'll get there! Maybe once the gardening slows down? :P

Here's the photos I took from the move process, beginning the week we came home from camping.

We spent the Monday catching up on all the laundry from camping and on Tuesday Delilah and William got to hang out with their opa and oma for the day while I got to start with the packing.

Slight hiccup with there not being as much packing tape as I remembered.

I pulled from my handy-dandy diaper box stash

And got my first box packed in a manner of minutes. It was all books, a quick and easy pack, but got me off to a motivated start.

More books and decorations now too.

The excitement that comes from completing boxes is great and all, but do you know what I love even better? Purging! Our storage cupboard soo got the better of me.
But purging is also an important pre-move task, right?
Right. 😄

Eight boxes was as far as I got that day

But then on Wednesday morning we got right back into it while James was napping

We packed as many boxes as we had and on Saturday evening we got the keys- early!

After dinner we brought a few things over to check it out with the kids.
This photo is taken from where we have our dinning table and looking into the two bedrooms. We've got the kids on the left and our master bedroom to the right.

Here's our living room. Plenty of room for two couches, the rocking chair, and lots of room to play!

Our new kitchen with the washroom to the left.

Saturday night Will brought a lot of things over!
We stopped by on Sunday in-between services to have a snack and play a bit.

Then on Monday we moved the rest of everything over! Delilah and William went to their friends' house at 10 and shortly after Will's parents, Ethan and Emily, and Matt came over to help us out. We are grateful it was cooler than the week before, but it was still very hot out. And with all those stairs our poor team was tired right out! Thankfully everything was done by noon and we enjoyed a pizza lunch together in the comfort of our new, air conditioned house.
Once Uncle Matt got the crib assembled James had his first nap in his crib in his own bedroom. Two firsts for him!

We visited with my siblings for two hours that afternoon. Any excuse to sit and talk rather than continue working was much welcomed!

While taking our lunch break we noticed that it was raining clumps of dust that had gathered on the fan blades! At the time we just turned the fan off, but once everyone left Will quickly found a ladder and got the fan dusted. I'm glad we can have it on now without having to pick up the falling dust bunnies!

And that's where I'll leave this post for now. I can't promise that you'll get an official tour, but there'll be plenty of glimpses that come through my other posts.
