Shuswap 2022

After staying at Hat Creek for 3 days we went to Shuswap for a Vanspronsen family reunion in celebration of Will's grandparent's 55th wedding anniversary!

Unfortunately the mosquitos were atrocious. Will welts up pretty badly from them, and we quickly learned that Delilah and William do not do well with the bites either. They had a difficult time sleeping from all the discomfort they were in. One night I had to take Delilah to the truck because she was crying so much and just couldn't stop. On Wednesday we went to the pharmacy there which we heard had whipped up a fancy anti-itch cream. It was expensive, but worked! We were very close to going home several times but are glad we stuck it out as we had a great time reconnecting with the extended family.

We had coffee and cake on Tuesday morning for the official anniversary party.

Will and Dad went for a boat ride Tuesday evening

Delilah and William had so much fun running around and tandem biking (?) together

James did pretty well considering all. The mosquitos didn't bother him too much, but the heat sure did.

Whoever left axes at the woodpile forgot we had William at the party 😆
Naturally he found them pretty quickly...

Our sleeping situation was all over the place - we did what worked.
One morning I woke up with James in William's bed, and found Will with the older kids like this.

Here's just about everyone we camped with that week!
Almost the whole clan. Missing nine grandkids/spouses and one great grand.

With their children

And the greatgrandkids!
With one staying home, one born the week after, and one more on the way Grandpa and Grandma will round out the year with thirteen great grandchildren!

Another evening boat cruise on Thursday. This time to take another cousin fishing. Too bad they didn't catch anything.

I've got a bunch of beach pictures, some taken by other family members, and I can't exactly figure out which ones are from which days so I'm leaving them all at the end here. We went to the beach each afternoon and had a fun time at the water.

Spot Mom and Auntie Cathy? Those ladies take their projects with them everywhere! 😜

Delilah and William meshed in well with their extended cousins.
I tried explaining to Will about second cousins and first cousins-once-removed, but he says extended cousins is easier. 😆

I'm off on the left here with James at the water's edge. He bravely put his feet in the water each day. The first day was very apprehensive about it but got gradually better and better each day.

I was grateful for the many willing arms to snuggle him so I could go into the water

Great memories from a wonderful week!
