Rainy Day Science Experiments

We had no daycare kids today and after playing around in the rain for a while we decided to do some fun activities inside where we could be dry and warm.

This one is called magic milk. You put milk and food colouring on a plate and then dip a Qtip in dish soap and poke it around in the milk. It causes the colours to shoot and swirl all around.

Next we dyed some pasta by putting a little bit of dye and vinegar in a container

Then adding pasta and shaking it all around

William made the purple ones and Delilah did the green.

I also made teal and red coloured noodles and we dumped them all onto a cookie sheet to dry.

Finally we played around with oil and water.

William's reaction to seeing the first spoonful of water added to his cup of oil

I love the concentration tongue

So cool!

This kept the kids busy for twenty minutes until they ran out of supplies and were getting quite oily, but they sure had fun with it!
