Delilah's Birthday Parties

Delilah woke up the morning of her birthday and excitedly got dressed right away (a rare occasion for her) so she'd be ready to open the cards that came in the mail for her.

The night before as she was going to bed she said, "Make sure you decorate so I'll be surprised in the morning!"
We did a few things to think outside of the box and try to surprise her, even though she was anticipating there being decorations.
Balloons taped above her bed and a party hat on our bear got cute reactions from her.

We had half our family over for a tea party that morning

Later in the afternoon we spotted a doubled rainbow

"Best Birthday EVER!" She yelled while jumping up and down

An hour later I took Delilah shopping with me and we saw another rainbow!

Back at home we gave Delilah our gift and in true Vanspronsen fashion it came unwrapped so we covered Delilah while she waited for the present to be brought out

On Sunday we celebrated with my side of the family

Delilah (and the rest of our family) came down with a cough and cold the weekend of her birthday so we had to postpone her party with her friends. I was relieved that she was so sick and tired that day that she totally understood the need to postpone the party and thankfully it worked out for all her friends to come two weeks later.

Will took Timothy down for the girls to pet

Such a girly girl with all the expressions we heard while she opened her gifts

After we postponed her party I popped the cupcakes (they were not iced yet) in the freezer and pulled them out the morning of her party. Saved me having to bake a second round.

And that's a wrap on the birthday festivities for our five year old!
