Weekly Wednesday Wupdate: Beetles and Sticks

Wednesday:

On Wednesday evening I helped organise a third Titus 2/Prov 31 Women's Skills Night at church. This evening's skill was the art of zentangle which we were taught how to make a card using only a pen and paper.

Such a neat evening and it was so fun to see the designs everyone came up with.

Thursday:

Delilah helped Grandma make these blueberry muffins which were a tasty snack.

Another afternoon rainbow

And we could still faintly see it back at our house later

Somehow James managed to pull this play school up and over his crib rails. And he must have played quietly with it because I didn't discover it until I put the older kids to bed later.

Friday:
Gotta love a good bear hug and snuggle

Saturday:
Hair style by Delilah

We talked a bit about beetles in our school work this week so on Saturday afternoon the kids pulled out the paints to make their own little creatures

We did complete them with legs, eyes and mouths but I don't have a finalised photo.

Delilah's beetle is named Mrs. Rose. She lives in houses and eats macaroni pasta.

William's beetle is named John. He lives on bears and eats its blood. Sometimes it lives on birds too.

Sunday:
On Sunday evening Will and I hosted the third annual LYFE Project Trivia Night for the folks at Langley Church.
It's an honour to keep getting asked back every year.

Tuesday:

I vacuumed under our dresser on Tuesday morning and found just about all of Mozzy's cat toys that had got batted under there.

We were thrilled to have sunshine and the kids wanted to eat their lunch outside.
Also tried to convince me that we should set up the sprinkler for them to play in the water since it was so hot, but I suggested that since it was only seven degrees we maybe wait until Spring before pulling out the sprinkler.

In our schoolwork we read Aesop's fable about a bundle of sticks and how when we cooperate as a united team we are strong but on our own we are weak. The only sticks we had on hand were chopsticks and they worked perfectly for a demonstration

The kids thought it was hilarious that they were actually allowed to break the chopsticks

The kids spotted a deer while they were playing outside that afternoon and tried to get close enough to pet it. Maybe it was the four gleeful screaming children, or, as I was told, it was just too shy.

We watched the movie Frozen with the kids. It usually takes us 2-3 weekends to get through a movie and the kids were so eager to finish Frozen that they were asking for it on Tuesday and we figured why not.
