Clara's Baptism

We were very blessed to have Clara receive the sign of holy baptism on September 8th.

Originally we were hoping for September 1st since that was a long weekend and would work the best for both extended families to come, but Clara had other ideas and refused to be born on time for a Sept 1st baptism.

She's such a blessing
(Madi too 😉)

Our pastor visited with us following Clara's birth and read to us the first few verses from Psalm 78.

Psalm 78:1-7
My people, hear my teaching;
    listen to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth with a parable;
    I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
things we have heard and known,
    things our ancestors have told us.
We will not hide them from their descendants;
    we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
    His power, and the wonders he has done.
He decreed statutes for Jacob
    and established the law in Israel,
which He commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,
so the next generation would know them,
    even the children yet to be born,
    and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God
    and would not forget His deeds
    but would keep His commands.

These verses were also part of a sermon several weeks prior and they really resonated with me at the time so when he read from Psalm 78 again during our visit I commented about he had used these same verses in a previous sermon. And again at Clara's baptism this psalm was read.
I can't remember what Bible passages were read at our pastoral visits with our other children, or what their baptism sermon texts were, but I think Psalm 78 is going to remind me of Clara's baptism from now on.

Delilah just cannot contain her excitement about having a little sister!

I absolutely LOVE Clara's facial expression here! She looks a little worried, uneasy, slightly confused about Delilah holding her. "Hey, um, Mom?!? Do you really think this is a good idea?!?"

Four kids and not one of them are looking at the camera!

A little better...
This was not a session for a good family photo, hey?
