Weekly Wednesday Wupdate: They Call This The Real Winter

 Wednesday:
Those icecubes Delilah made earlier in the week were a big hit! And since we've had consistent subzero temps, they don't melt either!

And they were rather pretty too.
Made me kinda bummed we don't have any other food colouring colours to make different coloured cubes.

Again with adding water to the snow to make it more wetter so they can build with it.

Back inside, cozied up with a story.
And do you see that hole in William's pants?! I don't even know what he did and I didn't bother trying to mend that. They went straight to the rag pile after he changed that night.

Thursday:
We may have a small amount of space inside, but I am very thankful for our seacan and the ability to store everything else in there.
The more docile version of the real winter that everyone warned us about when we decided to live in a trailer in Northern BC is on its way. And by docile I mean -20 to -30. Apparently -30 to -40 is a very real possibility too yet. We're curiously excited to see and experience it!

And while we were at it we did a toy rotation too

Friday:
Some sewing practice for Delilah.

Saturday:
It snowed from noon on Wednesday until about noon on Friday. Very light, blowing snow, but we had a good fall gathered on the patio table outside.

So cheery to look out the window and see

Even Clara was getting in on the fun of the 'new' toys

We've had this happen two or three times already, but we have discovered that when it gets below -20 the waterlines for our washing machine freeze. Running the hair dryer at them for a while has so far done the trick.

I forget why, but they requested I take a picture of them all on the couch.
I think maybe they were a bunny family?

Clara is majorly on the move! She propels herself backwards all around the place. Until, at least, she gets stuck.

Saturday was -23 but felt like -32 with the windchill. We still went outside, for a bit shorter than we usually do but it was still a good 45mins

Clara woke up from her nap part way through and I took her outside too.
She can't sit up in her snowsuit (too much bulk in front) and she wasn't much of a fan of lying there either

But if she was held and had an eye on her silly siblings she was very content

Monday:
On Sunday our thermometer read -27 outside so Monday's 'warmth' (still -18) was welcomed.
The kids took turns pushing each other down the sled hill in the dump truck. It had poor results from an experimental point of view, but you can tell from their faces that everyone has ear-to-ear smiles.

Back inside we all agreed hot chocolate was necessary to warm up so we enjoyed a cozy cup while we did our Beatrix Potter study.
