Wednesday:
We did some babysitting at a friends house on Wednesday afternoon and the kids always have a blast with their mud kitchen
We learned that Clara loves pickles! Made for a very tasty treat for her
While out shopping on Tuesday we picked out the biggest plastic kiddie pool we could find. Aaaand on our way to the till with it we realised we had to somehow fit it in the back of the truck to bring home. So we swapped it out for the second largest pool. Which was a lot smaller, but a small pool is better than no pool.
Thursday:
At dinner on Thursday evening we were discussing the phrase "Burn that bridge" and trying to explain to the kids what was meant by it. James was very excited that we were going to be setting things on fire and was asking if he could come too to do the burning. He was then rather disappointed that nothing was getting set on fire. So Will went outside the window and made a 'bridge' with some sticks and lit a gas soaked rag on top of it.
James was one happy boy after that!
Saturday:
Out enjoying the sunshine
Monday:
We went out with some friends from church for the day on Monday. First to a playground and then to find some water to play in.
This was a part of a creek that was dammed up by beavers. No good shore spots for us to stay and play.
The kids found lots of ducklings with their mommas and were keeping a keen eye out for the beavers
We knew there was a lake that fed the creek, but we couldn't figure out a way to walk there from the park we were at.
After stopping at a general store to ask for some ideas of where to go we were directed to this pool in the creek which was just beside the highway. Apparently it is the place to be in the summer and is usually full of people lazing around in inner tubes.
Chucking rocks and wading into the water was all that the kids were really on the lookout for, so this swimming hole kept them busy for the remainder of our afternoon out.
Monday was an early morning, a busy day playing in the sun, and then a late night for us. We sent William into his room to get his pjs on and when I went to follow up with him a few minutes later I found him sleeping soundly on the floor.
Tuesday:
We had some time to spare on Tuesday after an appointment and took the kids out for icecream cones.
Out at the river to enjoy our treats
