Some people will say that God has a sense of humor, and I'd have to agree. After waiting several weeks for a conclusion to publish Part 2 of Our Summer Move I decided late last Wednesday just to go ahead and post it. And on Thursday morning we got word about that conclusion I was waiting for. Makes sense, right?
It is crazy how many times over and over we have moments like these, where once we/I accept what is, how it is, then soon after it goes just how we/I have been waiting for. This was the same thing.
If I had published the post three weeks earlier would it have gone differently? Hard to tell. But we know that this all played out exactly how it did for a good reason and we'll just have to rest in that.
Here is Part 3 of Our Summer Move:
So we got all the subjects cleared on the sale of our Coaldale house and the subjects cleared on our purchase. We had a bit of back and forth while trying to sort out possession dates with all the parties involved but by the end of it settled on us being able to move into our new place the first week of October! So very exciting!
When I began writing this post (that turned into a series) we were looking ahead to moving in the summer. Unfortunately with how the possession dates worked out in the end that move won't be happening until the fall and I was tempted to rename Part 2 to Our Fall Move, but as the story developed it ended up being a summer move after all, but in a way we weren't expecting!
Now into July, the Flokstras had decided to put their house up for sale and move back to the Valley. A quick sale for them meant we had to skedaddle off of their property before getting possession of our own place. Thankfully we had all those offers previously from folks who were willing to have us move our trailer to their yards and so we followed up to see how practically it could work and which place would make the most sense. We had a truck on standby to do the actual moving of our trailer and were working towards him moving us the second last weekend of August.
We got an intermediate place figured out and Will spent a few evenings sorting out the electrical needs. It's one thing to camp for a few days without electricity, but another to be living in an RV for two months without. I am very thankful for a handy husband who can figure out pretty much anything he puts his mind to.
We (Will, I had a very, very small part to play in this) disassembled the mudroom and moved the seacan to another from church family's property. Will let the truck guy know that we were getting close to being ready to move and then we got a text on Thursday morning that he was on his way to PG from Alberta, and was heading back to Alberta for a stint on Friday, but he miiight have time on Thursday after noon sometime to move us. We said great! And quickly started doing all the prep that we thought we still had a week to do, done in a morning. He updated us a bit later saying that it would be in the late afternoon, which we were grateful for as the more time we had to prepare the better.
Getting the inside of the trailer ready was pretty easy, we just needed to move everything that was in the way of the slides coming in and clear the counters of anything that might slide off in transit. The boys room, although the smallest slide, was the most work to prepare as I also needed to fish out any toys that had slipped away underneath the slide.
The living area looked pretty standard. I should have taken a photo of it, but the other counter just to the right of this picture is usually stashed full of things (knife block, butter dish, kettle, crockpot(s), and bananas) so to have that all emptied (into the laundry basket on the couch) did look very odd.
All ready to go!
It was a difficult maneuver to get the trailer into its parking spot originally, so we we're sure how it would go getting it out, but thankfully Will hired the right guy! He walked around to take a look at it, hopped in his truck, and pulled it out and backed it out no problem.
And here we are!
"Same home, different address!" is what a friend said.
We'll be here just a handful of weeks and are looking forward to moving to our own property come October.
