Playing Catchup: October 8 and 9

Wednesday:
Out for a walk in the crisp air and sunshine!
Recovery wise at this point I could move more, but was still mostly sitting/lying around. I could do things in spurts and was doing my best to no overdo things while itching to unpack.
The mornings were the roughest for me with it taking until about 9 for me to get out of bed and then I wouldn't really feel properly awake until noon. Will went back to work on this Wednesday but with reduced hours so that he could get the kids up and started on their days.

Some children heeded my warnings about the weather moreso than others...

I so love these yellow fall leaves!

The homes have had a lot of updates over the years but I suspect this wallpaper has not been updated in at least the last thirty years...

Most of the things from our seacan got unpacked into the second house for storage, but some of those things we do need for living in our house. I've been keeping a list and usually once a day we'd go over to the other house and fill the wagon up with things to bring back. Snow boots and the cushions for the rocking chair were on order for this trip.

These two trees we can see from the kitchen window and I just adore them so much!

Watching the squirrels

I sent the kids on a mission to locate and count all the air vents in the house so we could get a quote for duct cleaning

My staples came out!

Thursday:
We wanted to give the kitchen a thorough deep clean before moving all of our things into the drawers and cupboards. Everything had been littered with mouse poop and I wanted it all cleaned over very well before using it.

Chantelle came over for the afternoon to clean and unpack for me and you can see dinner from Nicole sitting on the stove top which she dropped off but stayed for a bit to help fold laundry.

Clara is not usually a soother baby so when she does pop one in her mouth we all think it's so adorable

All four children are so excited to help with the laundry which I have been extremely grateful for given my limited capacity for normal housework.

I am realising more and more that I did not take enough before photos. This front porch was full of all sorts of stuff from the old owners - including, pictured here, their garbage. And it wasn't just one trash can full of garbage, I think we had three(?). All in time for the dump to then go on strike so we were stuck with not only a lot of junky stuff, but plain old garbage too.

On our way to the other house so Clara gets a wagon ride

On Thursday evening we went for a walk as a family through some of the property.
This photo from the lower road shows a bit of our backyard

These are my favourite trees

We found an old playset in the bushes! Discovered it is mostly non-salvageable but we may be able to repurposed some components of it.

Do you need a lawn mower? Or two? Or three? Actually, there's even a fourth one in the other yard too, if you have need for four mowers.
And do you see that spreader with the green bucket and white handle? It had that +/-10ft tall tree growing through it's handle. So depending on how fast that sapling grew, we're pretty sure it's been sitting there for several years...

Some interesting things growing on the wiper blades of a truck that's been parked here for who-knows-how-long

Walking down the road

It was neat to stand out in the forest and tell the kids that every tree they could see belonged to us. Spot Delilah's disbelief?

James spotted a few daisies growing in the bush and was excited to show me as he knows they are my favourite flower. I was surprised to see them in bloom still in October!

Delilah loves to read to her siblings and it's really quite special to watch.
