Orcas Island

For my mom's birthday last Saturday we all packed into the family van and travelled down to Orcas Island. The same place we went to for her birthday eleven years ago!

We stopped at Cascade Lake for lunch and Madi tried to get into this root cellar we found there

Then we stopped at a trail which led to four waterfalls, we skipped one on purpose, but then only found two more after that. Maybe we didn't go far enough down the trail?

Lots of shenanigans while walking. A game of tag, tree climbing...
...and Dad getting scooped up by Matt and Pete

After that we went to Mountain Lake and did a bit of a walk to the boat launch, and then to the dam and back.

Jonah found a little waterfall on the trail and wanted a picture with it

Next was Mt Constitution with a stop at Storey's Tower for the stunning views

Mt Baker off in the distance

We were running tight on time to get back to the ferry on time, but wanted to still fit in our last stop of Rosario. Unfortunately we found that the mansion was no longer open to the public as it was under construction, but that did make our time there pretty short which worked in favour of us catching the ferry.

We got checked in to the ferry on time and had some time to walk around.

Found a starfish!

After a full day of sunshine and fresh air we were all pretty tired on the ride home
