Things That Go "Bump" in the Night

Yesterday was stormy.
Lots of heavy rain and wind.
Will even mentioned that he wouldn't be surprised if our power went out.
Around 8pm we headed out to clean the church but didn't get too far before we ran into (figuratively, not literally) a fallen tree that was blocking the road.
One guy there lived just a few houses down the road (but this is the country we're talking about, so it was a bit of a drive) so he whipped home and grabbed a chainsaw.
Lots of people got out of the cars to help clear the road and they managed to make short work of the roadblock.

Church cleaning was uneventful, we got home and went to bed.
Then, at around 3am, Will and I were awakened by a loud bump/shaking.
I thought it was an earthquake.
Will right away was getting dressed and said that a tree must have hit the house.
Turns out he was right.

Will hacked away at the tree to get the majority of it off the house.
The cats were all confused, thinking it was time to get up, and wanted to go outside too.

Thankfully it didn't break through into our house and the damage on the outside appears to be minimal.
Our dinky fence got busted, the corner drain pipe got smashed up, one section of the roof is broken, and some soffits fell out.

The worst of the damage.

Thankfully we're all safe and not much damage was done.

On the plus side, our power never went out!

I can now add falling trees to my list of 'Things That Go 'Bump' in the Night.'
Maybe next time I'll guess right. 😛
