Easter Vacation

Last week we packed up our 4runner at 5am to head out on a road trip to Prince George!
Only we got as far as the intersection down the road before turning around to move everything and everyone over to the van. When Will started up the 4runner that morning it was sounding off to him but we decided to at least give it a try. It threw two misfire codes and the engine was hopping around in the front. Not sustainable for the long drive ahead.

So we switched everything over to the van and left again shortly after.

We stopped at this rest stop to have breakfast, run around, and watch the big trucks of course.

About to enter a tunnel!
James was unsure of the first one, but before it was over decided he loved them

We drove past hundreds of little calves dotting the hills

This was also Will's birthday!
I triple checked with him that he was okay with travelling on his birthday but he assured me each time that road tripping is his favourite and he was very pleased to drive the whole day.

We arrived in town earlier than our airbnb check in so we stopped at a playground to stretch our legs

After this Delilah also wanted to jump off her swing but Will convinced her to wait until she's a bit bigger.

Of course Will is usually the biggest monkey on the playground.

Settled in at our 'home' for the next five nights.

The first night was a late one. We went out for a birthday dinner and then decided to postpone the cake and just get the kids to bed instead. Which was a good idea because they were all so excited it took until 9:45 for them all to get to bed and fall asleep.

We visited a family who had kittens

Once William was introduced  he spent most of our visit sitting with the kittens.

I specifically told Will that I wanted us to get fuel at this gas station so the kids could see the airplane. James was a little concerned that it was stuck in the building.

Our airbnb host left us with a huge basket of Easter goodies. The kids thought these bunny teeth suckers were silly.

There were lots of toys at the suite to keep the kids busy which we were very grateful for.

Cake time!

We had promised the kids we'd find another playground so we put in some time at one after our walk to the river

And we went to the pool that afternoon to uphold our other promise of going to a pool since we were staying at an airbnb and not a hotel with a pool.

Delilah and William spent almost a whole morning playing this game. Different shapes and different trucks and for each challenge you use a certain truck and have to puzzle together specific shapes so that they all sit flat in the back of the truck.

Saying goodbye to our airbnb

You'll notice in this photo that our "Happy Birthday' banner is still draped over the mirror in the dinning room. I didn't remember until after we were home. 😆
I was so certain we had remembered everything, but alas. Good thing it was only a party decoration and not the bag of our Sunday shoes or something.

During our stay we kept commenting to each other how five nights was such a nice length of vacation to feel relaxed by. But once it was all over it still felt very quick.

I have more photos of our drive home which I'll share soon.
